Is it always bad to have a fling with a big flirt?

He's my friend, but damn... he has SO MANY girl buddies. He's always talking in a joking way about sex, but I'm not sure how many times he's actually done anything with these chicks. Still, I find myself attracted to him in a physical way... I'm actually usually pretty responsible for a teenager- but I've decided to stay single for a while until I'm emotionally prepared for another commitment after my ex and I broke up and it put me through a depression for about a year. With this other guy, it would probably be just another little thing to kiss/make out/whatever, and he wouldn't get attached. Would that help me not to get attached either? I wouldn't want a relationship with him in any way because of his personality, but... I feel like this would be good for me so I'm not just bottling up all my sexual needs until college or whenever I want to date again and be rusty and sensitive. Does that make sense?
