Bf broke up with me cause of sex issues - medical issue? How will I find someone now?

I had been going out with him for 6 months, decided I was ready to have sex, so we tried (I was a virgin). First time was incredibly painful for me, but we thought it was just 'the first time' and everything would get better. Well, we tried for weeks but everytime he tried to speed up I would start bleeding and the experience was horrible for me, I was in incredible pain unless he was going really slowly. Anyway, it got too much for him and he told me that sex was an important part of a relationship and if he couldn't be satisfied with me then it wasn't fair on me to stay together (it sounds bad I know) But actually, I think it's fair enough, because sex is important, and I felt horrible the whole time we were together because I couldn't give him what he needed the way he needed it. I'm terrified to start a relationship again because I don't want to fall in love with someone and then have this happen all over again and for him to leave me. I don't know if this is a medical issue and something that could be sorted out? I just don't know what to do, and I think the longer I leave it the more scared I'm going to be about starting another relationship. Help please :( don't know what to do, I don't like the thought that I will never find someone :( :( thanks :( xxx
