Does it wear out your brakes more to break hard when you get to a light or break slowly from a distance holdin?

hink about it for a minute lets use gas as an example. If you punch the gas to the floor the car will use a lot more gas than if you just stepped on it lightly and went on down the road. Its the same with brakes. the easier you are and the farther back you start slowing the more the momentum bleeds off and the less brake you use. If you punch the gas to the floor rocket up to a red light and slam on the brakes like I see these kids do everyday, the more gas and faster you wear out your brakes.
