Help! Something is wrong with my laptop's keyboard!?

The other keys on my laptop are fine but as soon as I press the spacebar button on the laptop the other keys suddenly stop working. When I tried typing on MS word all the keys were fine too except for the spacebar, as soon as I pressed the spacebar the spell check and grammar check window came up. I didn't spill anything on the lapotop and it was working fine a few minutes ago. The laptop is new so I don't think that the keyboards are rusty at all. I'm using a plug-in external keyboard to type this.
